How creative can you make a deadline?

Who's "end of day" are we talking here? Mine, yours, the other team's that is three hours behind? 

When it comes to EOD, let's face it, we all get a little subjective sometimes. Of course we know it means 5 pm, but teeeechnically, it's 11:59 pm right?

So why not flip through the other tabs on your browser again. Check your email for the 20th time (even though the only new messages are automated newsletters). And convince yourself that chatting on casual SaaS forums is considered billable hours. If you work into the evening, can't you just call it a rush rate?

Sure, take advantage of EOD once in a while and let yourself off the hook. And if you're still a bit behind, just switch the D for a W. ;)
